Patricia's Story
Patricia's home, nestled in the heart of one of the neighborhoods we serve, stands as a powerful testament to the stark realities faced by countless families in the marginalized communities of the Amazon. Her family, comprised of five members, used to endure the daily struggle of existence within the confines of a small, ramshackle shanty. The floor beneath Patricia's children's feet was a perilous landscape, strewn with broken boards and menacing nails. When the rain fell, the outside world invaded their home, as trash from the streets flowed in, and rats and other rodents sought refuge within the confines of their small home's walls.

Here are before and after photo’s of Patricia’s house. For around $5,000 USD we were able to build her a brick, two-room home with a small bathroom and a kitchen area. Josue, her former teacher at one of the schools we operate in the Amazon, helped pickup the material supplies to build the house. Meanwhile, Patricia’s neighbor Nonato put in all of the hard labor.
